Lutheran Church of the Resurrection

Confirmation

Confirmation at Resurrection is an opportunity for Parents and their 6th-8th grade children, to journey together and explore the faith that was given them by God at their baptism.

Twice a month, on Tuesdays from 7-8:30pm, throughout the school year, 6th-8th grade students meet to learn the basics of the Christian Faith. Over the course of the three-year program students will come to a deeper understanding of the Bible and Christian Doctrine.

The Confirmation program also places a heavy emphasis on fellowship, friendship, and building and enhancing Christian character. Each student is a part of a Small Group, led by an adult leader from our Congregations. Everyone checks in with each other to see what's happening - highs and lows - and to talk and learn together about our topic for the evening.

All confirmation students are also expected to attend weekend worship, Sunday school, and actively participate in Middle School activites. In addition, several service opportunities such as singing in the choir, or serving as an acolyte are offered to students at various points, throughout the year. Confirmation students must meet a service requirement by the time they make their confirmation.

8th grade students, who have successfully completed the confirmation program, are eligible to participate in the Rite of Confirmation. The Rite of Confirmation takes place on Pentecost Sunday at the end of the confirmation year. Students will confirm their faith in God and with the entire congregation as they are welcomed as full members of our church!

Confirmation doesn't end with Confirmation! High School students are invited back to become Small Group assistants so they can pass down what they've learned to students who are just getting started.
